Elytrigia repens (L.) Nevski
Common name: Quack Grass, English Couch, Twitch Grass, Rope Twitch The perennial, English Couch grows either solitary or tufted and is 30 - 120 cm tall. The stems often bend out and up from the base of the plant and it flowers from October to March. The smooth leaf-blades are flat, 6–35 cm long and 3–10 mm wide and may or may not have hairs on the upper surfaces. Their root system is fibrous and there are Rhizomes. Distribution: Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania. Western Australia: Menzies. South Australia: Flinders Ranges, Northern Lofty, Southern Lofty, South-eastern. New South Wales: South Coast, Northern Tablelands, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central-Western Slopes, South-Western Slopes, South-Western Plains. Victoria: Wannon, Riverina, Midlands, Otway Plain, Gippsland Plains, Wilsons Promontory, East Gippsland. Tasmania: North West, North East, East Coast.
