Meadow Fescue is a short-lived perennial grass.  The leaf blades are narrow
It's a cool-season bunch grass tolerating cold conditions and preferring moist, deep, fertile soils.
There are about 8 species in Australia, WA, SA, Qld, NSW, Vic, and Tas. These are
Festuca arundinacea, Festuca asperula, Festuca benthamiana, Festuca muelleri, Festuca nigrescens, Festuca plebeia, Festuca pratensis and Festuca rubra.

Common name: Tall Fescue (Lolium arundinaceum and formerly Festuca arundinacea and F. elatior)

Tall Fescue, a deep rooted perennial grass that adapts well to a wide range of growing conditions.  It is a cool season grass but can tolerate, to a moderate degree, summer heat and drought conditions. It is the most popular type of instant lawn in Victoria.
 
 
Distribution:
 
Found in temperate, higher rainfall districts of Australia.  Not found in the Northern Territory.
