Common name: Kikuyu
 
Kikuyu is a hardy dense, mat forming grass that grows 3-45 cm tall in full sun.  It is a deep-rooted perennial suited to fertile soil. The leaf blades are flat, bright green and approximately 1 - 15 cm long and 1 - 5 mm wide.  It is cold tolerant but grows well in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions and flowers sporadically throughout the year. It is grown from Tasmania to the Atherton Tableland in North Queensland.

Queensland: Port Curtis, Wide Bay, Darling Downs, Moreton, Warrego.
New South Wales: North Coast, Central Coast, South Coast, Central-Western Slopes, South-Western Slopes.
Victoria: Murray Mallee, Lowan Mallee, Wimmera, Wannon, Riverina, Midlands, Victorian Volcanic Plain, Otway Plain, Otway Range, Eastern Highlands, Gippsland Plains, East Gippsland.
Tasmania: King Island, Furneaux Group, East Coast.
