Common names: Privet, Wild Privet

There are many varieties of Privet. The box leaved privet is one of the most popular because it will grow all year round. They like reasonably well drained soil in hot sunny positions in almost any environment.

They are usually an evergreen but in Tasmania they're a deciduous, fast growing shrub. It has white flowers in summer which are followed by black berries.

Two species of Privet are the Broad Leafed Privet (Ligustrum lucidum) and Narrow Leafed Privet (Ligustrum sinense).
