Common name: Red Clover, Cow Clover, Meadow Clover, Purple Clover, Trefoil, and Wild Clover
 
Red clover is a biennial or perennial plant but has only a few years of life. They like to grow in sunny areas in well-drained soils.  Some of the species can grow as tall as 2 feet tall but lots are around 90 cm tall.  The red clover has a hairy stem that is sometimes reddish in colour.  The leaves are green with a circle of white around the middle and the leaves grow in groups of three. The plant flowers from the beginning of summer to the end of autumn with the flower colours ranging from rosy pink to purple-red.
  
Distribution:
 
All states of Australia except Northern Territory.  Particularly found along the coastal and tableland areas of NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
